Calligraphy Pen from Target

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

I went to Target over the weekend to get a few things for myself, and while I was browsing I found my way into the scrapbooking section of the store and I came across this awesome doubled sided Calligraphy pen, by EK Tools. It was a great price, so I decided to give it a try. I’ve always been intrigued by Calligraphy; and, I even attempted it as a teenager but quickly lost interest in it because I was horrible at it, hehe. I also think I may have lost interest in it, at that age, because I didn't have the patience for it. I always just want to know how to do everything without putting the time and effort in, but now that I’m older (much older, hehe) I think it would be a great time to pick it up again.

After researching calligraphy on Google, and attempting some of the styles I found, using this pen, I think I really might go out and take some classes and buy a couple of books on the subject. While playing with this pen for just a few short hours I’ve found it so calming and now I can’t wait to go out and buy more materials and tools. I think I’d like to learn calligraphy to somehow incorporate it into my handmade items, like cards, or even invitations. Lately, I’ve been wanting to create new merchandise for my shop; however, I’m having trouble finding the right stamps or fonts that I feel are my style—so I think I’m going to have to start designing my own things from scratch—which is actually something I’m looking forward to. I can’t wait to see where this leads me.

Have you even wanted to try Calligraphy, or have you?

5 things that make me happy...crafty edition

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

1.       My collection of stain ribbon
2.       My growing collection if Copic Markers
3.       The rubber stamp organizer I purchased from the dollar store
4.       My growing collection of Lawn Fawn
5.       Sampler size ink pads

Sometimes, when I’m working at my desk, I love to get lost in the sea of beautiful things I’m surrounded by. I may not have the prettiest craft space in the world but all the wonderful things I've been collecting for the past few years are always staring right back at me—as if they need me as much as I need them. Being able to work with these things everyday makes me so smile.

Customer Appreciation Photos

Monday, June 10, 2013

I received these super amazing pictures from an awesome customer that purchased these ‘Babies are such sweet beginnings’ cupcake toppers from my shop. I always get so happy when customers send me pictures like this because secretly, when I’m working on orders, I always wonder where they’re going and how they’ll be used—kind of wishing I could be there to see, hehe. So, getting pictures almost makes me feel like I was there. I truly love everything I make in my shop and I’m so happy I get to share my creations and have them displayed at special events; such as this baby shower.

I also love how she used the cupcake toppers in the flower arrangements—that’s something I've never thought of, and it looks so cute—she’s so creative!

I’d like to give a big THANK YOU to, Kelly, for sending me these pictures; and, for letting my creations be a part of such a special day.

Mini Journals, DIY, Video!

Today, I have a really fun video to share with you all! I mentioned about a week or two ago that I’d be making a video showing how I made my mini journals using the Pink Lemonade Collection Kit in better detail—and it’s been uploaded over at the Lawn Fawn Youtube page, and Blog. I love making things on video now; namely, because you can see exactly how I make my projects from start to finish and you can also see what tools I’m using. If you have any requests’ to see any of my projects on film, let me know and I’d be happy to make a quick video. Thanks for stoppin’ by and don’t forget to leave me a comment below if you have any video requests’.

A Congrats Card with the Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, and Lawn Fawn Stamps

Monday, June 3, 2013

I recently won a Simon Says Stamp collection from Aida’s blog, Love of Cards. I was super excited when I found out I won because I’ve never won a giveaway before; and, I’ve never used Simon Says Stamp products before—I’ve always wanted to give them a try. This April 2012 card kit comes with a variety of products by several manufactures’, and one of my favorite things about this kit was that it came with Lawn Fawn paper—paper that can’t be purchased anymore—so, actually that’s another reason why I was so happy to win this, hehe.

When I found out that one of my friends got engaged I thought it would be a great time to make her a card, using the Lawn Fawn, Bright Side paper, with a combination of other Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. I used the Lawn Fawn stamp set, Blissful Botanicals, to create this beautiful floral arrangement—and Blissful Botanicals has been a set that I’ve always wanted to buy but I always kept in wish list, until recently when I decided I just couldn’t’ wait any longer, and I ordered it! Now that I’ve used it I can’t imagine how I went so long without ordering it, hehe. It’s such a perfect set.

While I used Blissful Botanicals to create the floral background, I also used the stamp set, Home Sweet Home to create the banner and ‘congrats’ sentiment; and, since I know she loves owls I thought I’d grab my, Critters in the Forest, stamp set and add it in somehow, and I placed this little fella’ right on top of the banner—which I think came out so cute. Next, I thought it need just a little something more, so I used my, A birdie told me, stamp set to add the text bubble that reads: Woo-hoo. So cute right? I know she’ll love it, and I’m hoping she doesn't read this blog post because then the surprise will be ruined, hehe.
